Abstract

The increasing rate of the hybrid and axial threshing systems demands higher effectiveness of the combine cleaning unit. To meet this requirement, a new cleaning test rig was put into operation at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering of the University of Hohenheim in cooperation with CLAAS Selbstfahrende Erntemaschinen GmbH. To realise the grain flow in the cleaning unit as close to authentically as possible, separate feedings for
the preparation pan and for the return pan were realized. An automated feeding system was prefixed to the cleaning unit test rig to increase productivity and accuracy and to reduce the manpower requirement to run the tests. Basic tests were done with a serial preparation pan of a CLAAS JETSTREAM-cleaning unit to validate the test rig and to compare with existing results. Due to the multitude of variable parameters the experimental design, planning and analyse were generated with the software CORNERSTONE.
